This past weekend was my Aunt Louise’s aka “Weezie” Surprise 80th Birthday. Family flew in from all over the country to celebrate in this wonderful occasion. At first I thought surprising an 80 year old might not be the best idea, but considering my aunt is a nurse and half of her guest list consisted of Doctors and nurses, my concerns were put to ease.
Seeing my Aunts utter surprise and tears of joy seeing her family and friends yelling “Surprise” was priceless. The evening was filled with dancing, eating, drinking and tons of laughter.
The highlight of the night came when Aunt Weezie and her 92 year old friend Stella discovered the photo booth. The table outside the photo booth was filled with hats, scarves and glasses. Aunt Weezie and Stella carefully tried on several options before settling on glasses. Aunt Weezie claimed the “Jackie O” glasses while Stella reached for the “Naughty” glasses. (Yes, her words exactly…LOL)
The ladies settled into the booth, closed the shade and all barriers of proper lady like demeanor was left on the other side of the curtain. From outside the booth you could hear screams of laughter and an occasional “Gosh darn, we look good”.
It was at that moment that it hit me. Beauty has no age! Regardless of their ages, Aunt Weezie and Stella would only allow the camera to capture the beauty they felt on the inside. The rest is just as they would say “gravy”.
