Brides Magazine: Hair by Kristan Serafino
How to Choose A Wedding Hair Stylist
In my job I’m exposed to a diversity of talented and creative people. They include celebrities, athletes, executives, artists of all nationalities from around the world. And while my response to this exposure ranges from awe, to respect, to giddy, you may be surprised what group I most admire. Brides! With no advance training a bride is expected to instantaneously know how to manage dozens of unfamiliar tasks on a budget. A challenge for the most seasoned CEO, COO, CMO or CFO.
A bride will spend months preparing for one of the most anticipated day of their life…not to mention the years spent fantasizing about a fairytale wedding. Among brides decisions are dates, site locations, photographer, videographer, caterer, musicians, florist, not to mention the entire beauty side of the equation such as the bridal gown, bridesmaids gowns, tuxedos, hair, makeup and the list goes on and on. Some brides have the luxury of turning to a wedding planner to help guide them through this maze.
A brides selection of her hair and makeup team is becoming increasingly important among the long list of wedding tasks. And while I am admittedly biased, here are just three reasons why beauty is important.
- The trappings surrounding a wedding serve a single purpose; to frame the beautiful bride, the center of attention.
- Guests will “Ohhhh & Awww” over the grandeur of the event, but all eyes are on the brides gown, hair and makeup.
- The most prominent memory captured forever in photographs and video are images of the bride.
My absolute favorite wedding site, Weddingstar (www.weddingstar.com), asked me to share my professional insight working with brides. I thought what better insight can I share than advice on how a bride can best prepare to have perfect hair for her dream wedding.
