Daily Post – Whisper, Talk or Shout?

When a client sits in my chair regardless if I have been styling their hair for years or its our first meeting, its crucial that I have a reference in order to understand what a client is looking for. You are probably thinking it is simple…..just bring pictures of the color and cut you desire!

Oh, if it were only that simple. Trust me, I know how it works.  You bring your hair stylist pictures and you honestly “think” you have a clear idea of what you want.  But as a seasoned hair stylist and many experiences with clients, chances are you have all these visions of cutting and coloring your hair like an image in a magazine but when you see those shears coming at your head, suddenly you’re telling your hair stylist… “Maybe we will try that look during my next appointment.  Lets just dust off the ends.” ……Come on, I know you are giggling right now…

Here is a scorecard to use when you are talking to your stylist.  It’s a good reference for both you and your hair stylist…….

Whisper: This means you want a trim on your ends and keeping your color as close to your existing hair color.  You look the same as when you walked in the salon except your hair feels healthy and shiny.

Talk: You go back to the office and people notice your new style but it’s a style that is not too dramatic that they don’t recognize who you are.  An example could be you keep your length and add shorter layers or your sweeping fringe is now just above your eyebrows.

Shout: Heads are turning when you enter the room.  You have just cut your one length hair into a pixie cut.  You walked in a blonde and you are going home a red.  What are you going to be a Whisper, a Talker, or a Shouter?
