It was about one year ago that I was on a photo shoot near Los Angeles with an actor well known for his remarkable physique and healthy eating habits. After several hours of set preparation and shooting under the hot studio lamps I excused myself in order to grab a bottle of cool water. To my disappointment there was no water in sight, but only a few bottles of green juices and fruit juices in unfamiliar packaging. The bottles had brightly colored labels numbered 2 through 5. I reached for the green juice labeled number 2 since it looked most similar to the scrumptious vegetable and fruit drinks I often blend at home. I read the label, opened the top, took a sip and was pleasantly surprised at how delicious green veggies could taste.
As I was quenching my thirst I noticed the actor’s personal assistant quietly (since the photo shoot was ongoing) freaking out because I was holding a half empty bottle labeled number 2. Still very confused since I couldn’t comprehend the critical nature of a bottle of juice, I nonchalantly suggested to the assistant that he try the number 3 or 5 since they were both green juice. It was at that point that he more calmly explained it is part of his responsibility to stock the studio’s fridge with the actor’s daily regimen of the Ritual Cleanse. A daily regimen the actor never misses during his regular cleanse. OOPS!
Now that the assistant was fully calm (probably at peace knowing he could blame me for swiping the only number 2) he shared the wildly successful story behind Ritual Cleanse and even gave me the co-founder’s name, Lori Kenyon. I called Lori immediately upon returning to NYC to learn the real ‘skinny’ on juice cleansing. Lori was eager to share her wealth of knowledge about the industry, as well as the Ritual Cleanse line of products.
Over the past year I have conduced my own research on the pros and cons of juicing, and most specifically how a diet of juicing effects hair, scalp and skin. Here is some of what I have learned;
Did you know unhealthy hair can signal the presence of other health problems? It’s true! Healthy hair and skin is a sign of overall health. For example, brittle hair or hair loss can be caused by thyroid disease, iron deficiency, or an autoimmune disease. Fortunately, the same nutritious foods that are good for your body promote stronger, healthy hair and skin. As an example, your scalp and hair crave a diet chock-full of leafy vegetables and carrots, fruits (especially citrus for folic acid), and trace amounts of zinc, among other nutritional foods.
The typical criticism of juicing is best explained by a quote from the Mayo Clinic; “there is no scientifically-based advantage of juicing over consuming a fruit or vegetable in its original form”. This important piece of information led me to the logical conclusion… I would sure-as-heck prefer ingesting my daily nutrients in an aromatic, delectable blend of juices instead of sitting in front of a plate heaped tall with dozens of raw vegetables and fruits. Thanks Mayo!
The variety of products offered by Ritual Cleanse is a fantastic supplement to my occasional home juicing, and certainly a simple healthier solution to strong and lustrous hair, skin and body. Ritual Cleanse is a superior system of cleansing, detoxification and daily supplements to a healthy diet. This nutrient dense formalization of each Ritual Cleanse product contains many of the essential vitamins and nutrients I was unable to easily replicate with my home juicer. Their combination of veggies and fruit has been specifically formulated to provide you all the vitamins and nutrients your body needs to maintain and repair itself while cleansing. Each day, Ritual Cleanse’s juice is fresh pressed from 100% organic produce and delivered to your doorstep, no matter where you live. They are so YUMMY!
Here is how only a few of the Ritual Cleanse‘s natural juices specifically help your hair & skin;
* The green juices contain dark green veggies like spinach, kale, and romaine that are an excellent source of vitamins A & C, which your body needs to produce sebum. This is the oily substance secreted by your follicles that acts as the body’s natural hair conditioner.
* The cashew and almond milk (nuts that contain zinc) help overcome deficiencies that can lead to hair shedding and keeps your locks thick.
* The vitamins from carrots promote a healthy scalp essential for a shiny, well-conditioned head of hair.
* The juices containing mango (my personal favorite) provide powerful antioxidants to help increase skin elasticity.
* The coconut water added to many of their juices is a skin hydration superstar.
The bottom line on Ritual Cleanse is that it makes me feel energized throughout the day, my skin is flawless, and my hair has more luster… really!
When you are ready to give the cleanse a try I encourage you to contact Lori or any of the helpful staff. You won’t be disappointed.
Note: WebMD recommends, “It is important to remember that juicing alone does not replace an overall balanced diet of lean proteins, fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, fatty fish, and low-fat dairy necessary to keep the body health.”
