Oscars Fashion written by Fashion Director Anna Lenhoff
The red carpet was on fire at the 2013 Academy Awards this past Sunday in Hollywood. Stars and starlets were dressed to the nines as they worked it on one of the best dressed red carpets I’ve seen in a long time. Trends ranging from sleek and modern, old Hollywood, metallic, pastel hues and bursts of bold color were worn by Hollywood’s finest. Here are the Serafinosays awards for the best fashion moments at the biggest fashion show of the year!
Best Dressed Awards
Best Pastel – Jennifer Lawrence
Jennifer Lawrence was the woman of the evening in more ways than one. She looked stunning in her pale pink Christian Dior. Ball gowns can make a person look like a walking pastry, but this one was done right. Class, flattering and accented with 74 karats of glittering Chopard diamonds dripping down her back. This dress was SO worth the face plant! For the after party she changed into a more form fitting Calvin Klein dress in metallic silver. Her perfect accessory for both dresses??? An Oscar of course! Cheers to you J Law!
Best Old School Hollywood- Halle Berry
Halle Berry well deserves her title as an ex bond girl. She is always taking fashion risks and pulls them off with a combination of sex appeal and class. She looked unbelievable in her black and silver Versace gown. With strong shoulders that screamed early 80’s and bold stripes, most would be wary of this dress. Halle took on the challenge and OWNED it!
Best of the Metallic Trend- Naomi Watts
A huge trend of the evening was metallic, and no one did it better than Naomi Watts in her sequined Armani Prive stunner! The liquid metal gown had unique asymmetrical neckline and a cap sleeve. Her after party ensemble was just as fab as she continued with the metallic trend in an Emilio Pucci black and gold one shoulder dress. The Liev Schreiber arm accessory was a bonus as well! Naomi, you win best overall in my book! Shhh don’t tell the others!
Best Sleek Modern Look – Charlize Theron
Charlize and Channing Tatum (Swoon!!!) danced to Frank Sinatra’s “The Way You Look Tonight” which couldn’t have been more fitting for Charlize who looked beyond stunning in her white Christian Dior Haute Couture gown. Her pixie haircut, perfect makeup and karats upon karats of Harry Winston diamonds completed her look. She was so statuesque they could’ve given her out as an award!
Best Pop of Color – Maria Menouno
Barbie went brunette for the Oscars …oh wait, that is Extra’s co-host Maria Menouno! I’m privy to color, especially a daring pop of pink, pink, PINK! The Romona Keveza strapless mermaid gown stood out from the crowd and certainly left an impression! Not sure if you were channeling Barbie or Marilyn but it worked Maria!
Best Accessory – Samantha Barks
Samantha Barks diamond star burst Necklace was simply…TO. DIE. FOR. The brilliant neck candy was by House of Waris for Forevermark which is a company that focuses not only on beauty and rarity but most importantly responsible-sourcing. Most of us can only dream about wearing a 14+ karat diamond like this baby…fingers crossed there will be an affordable replica out there pronto!
Best Power Couple – Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck
What a great night for Ben and Jen! Not only did Argo win best picture, their daughter Violet won a local spelling bee….cute! Not sure what sweet Violet wore at the be, but mom and dad both looked incredible in Gucci frocks. Jennifer’s custom made gown had an amazing ponytail of ruffles that floated behind her and the shade of purple complimented her skin tone. Ben rocked his manly man beard with charm and looked oh so handsome in that lux Gucci Suit.
Best Hot Mess in a Dress – Kristen Stewart
I’m sorry Kristen. I love you and think you are a beautiful, talented girl and I feel just awful about your injury but you have to keep in mind that YOU ARE AT THE OSCARS!!! This is one of the most prestigious awards ceremonies in the world! You are a Hollywood starlet! Brush your hair, put a little blush on, pull yourself together and have a sexy vampire carry you down the red carpet next time.
